    You don’t have to have a separate windstorm policy. There are carriers offering to include wind/hail coverage as part of the homeowners coverage. With a few exceptions, there really isn’t a big need to TWIA policies other than they are underpriced and people want the lower premium.

    I disagree with Mr. Miller. Living and working in a Tier 1 county and most insurance carriers – personal & commercial – do not provide windstorm coverage with the fire / all other perils policies. We even have commercial carriers who will not write in Teir 2 becuase they cannot exclude windstorm in that tier. Windstorm is limited in these Tier 1 areas. TWIA and Icat (and a few other’s if it has high values) are about all we have.
