As someone born and raised in Oklahoma, I was used to tornado warnings on a regular basis in the spring and summer. Oklahomans have learned to live with it. Many build storm shelters in their yard they can get to in a moments notice. The area this storm hit was the same neighborhood I lived in before moving to Texas years ago. We were lucky to accept a transfer and avoid the 99 storm. Now, it is almost on the same track so I imagine the same neighborhood was laid to waste. What a horrific scene. The good news is that Oklahomans are resilient and brave. They will survive and come back from this.

I went in to assist with damage yesterday and heard of donations coming in. The support is amazing! Oklahomans are resilient and supportive. I arrived at my brother’s with supplies and neighbors were already there cleaning the yard, helping with roof repairs and supporting the family, fortunately no injuries. His house was hardest hit in their neighborhood as the tornado formed and dropped right into his back yard to start the terror. God Bless Oklahoma and residents of Newcastle and Moore.

Wow! I have been praying for ALL of the people in Oklahoma. Joan if this particular Quilty Inn is charging $1,500.00 for one week that is considered price gouging at this point. Who charges $214.00 a night in an AREA were people just lost there home, food and maybe even a family member? Really? So, sad that in the middle of a disaster this HOTEL/MOTEL is an extortionist! You should post there address and telephone number. They can be repored to the Oklahoma Attorney Generals office and the Oklahoma Insurance Dept. for possible price gouging. And trust me, they will be investigated.

I believe there are gouging laws in force for those who try to take advantage of disasters. That motel should be taken to task over that. In fact, any vendor who is selling bottles of water for $5 should also be exposed.
