I would safer knowing that a past criminal is not driving me around in Uber. Not voting for Don Zimmerman.

Q: Do you know who has no problem conducting fingerprint background checks for its drivers?

    A: Pedi-cab operators.

That’s right, those fine men and women who will pedal you to your destination in exchange for tips. Each and every one has had a national background check including fingerprint.

How come Uber, a company recently valued at $62,500,000,000.00, cannot abide by a requirement that poses no major obstacle to kids that pedal people on bicycles for tips? The answer: It absolutely can but simply refuses to do so.

Austin did not force Uber and Lyft to leave the city. These companies could resume operations immediately. All they have to do is follow the basic law just like everyone else in the livery business already does.

Uber, Lyft, Don Zimmerman, and the Texas legislature ought to be ashamed. Our laws should not be for sale. Austin residents sent a clear message when they voted for the ballot initiative despite Uber’s unprecedented $9,000,000.00 lobbying effort.

Meanwhile, Uber & Lyft have left ALL of their drivers out in the cold. They took their ball and went home and harmed their core assets & partners in the process.
