Here in Dallas they have removed most of these. Cost were not worth the amount of revenue they brought in. At the start they will bring in lots of revenue but as drivers get use to them it will trickle down and the cost stay the same.

Why spend the money to install these cameras when there is a court case pending regarding them. The City of Dayton has been ordered to place a policeman at each camera rather than rely on the camera. Obviously that is not cost effective. In other municipalities offenders have claimed that that was not their car. It is hard to believe that the photo is not enough evidence. If someone else was driving your car have them come forward. I understand that cities have major issues in getting these fines paid. Any suggestions for a better way to do this?

The cameras in question are going to give speeding tickets for speeding > 10 mph over limit in active school zones. I’d guess that kind of moving violation might render a driver ineligible for many standard markets. Now, in New Orleans, I suspect those violations will no longer show up on the driver MVRs. I believe these kinds of camera-issued violations are civil infractions issued against the registered owner of the vehicle rather than a moving violation issued against the driver.
