“Affluenza” should never be allowed as a defense. The parents should be held liable in these cases for not caring about and raising their children without oversight, discipline and showing them how to be responsible member of society. Parents today so often want “to be their child’s friend” and they say “I want my children to like me” and “I don’t want to hurt their feelings”. To those I say they never should have had children in the first place and need to change their way of raising their children or give them to someone who will take care of them, show them how to be a valuable part of society and raise them properly.
I’m sick of these excuses. This should not happen.

His parents were trying to protect him and probably thought up the affluenza defense after watching a Law & Order show. It didn’t work.
The world needs morons like this, to help me look good in comparison.

Their lawyers came up with the defense and it absolutely worked. It got him tried as a juvenile and kept him out of jail until he violated the terms of his probation.

Fat chance this schmuck will abide by the terms of his probation. I just hope when he crosses the line, they manage to smack him back into jail where he belongs. I’m pretty sure the parents were still liable, even if the criminal charges didn’t all stick.

The mom has been in prison for when they went on the lam. She got out and then went back in for going out drinking which was a violation of her probation. I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
