Time for you non-insurance people to ask your agent if you have a wind/hail deductible or a hurricane deductible or just an all other peril ded. If he can’t explain the difference, find a new one.

Jack, must be summertime in Texas. The DFW metroplex is well known for hail storms and it has nothing to do with Global Warming. By the way, carriers often put 2% or higher deductibles for wind/hail there.

Agent “why can’t we have one article on here that doesn’t talk about the global warming hoax? the insurance journal is clearly biased!!!”

Also Agent “let me bring up global warming even though the article simply talks about loss severity due to weather and clearly doesn’t even touch on climate change at all!”

In the Midwest so can no longer avoid the 1 or 2% wind/hail deductible. Too many losses over the last 5-10 years. Some legitimate, many not. Roofers are making millions helping insured’s collect on minor hail claims. Now we all pay in higher premiums and higher deductibles.

Minor damage is still damage the policy covers. Why shouldn’t the insured collect when damage has occurred?

Covered, but must exceed the deductible. Think it would pay on a $40,000 claim with a 2% deductible on a $2mil house????

I live on the east side of McKinney and we got a little bit of hail but–thank God–were able to avoid the baseball sized hail.

I can relate. I’m in Plano and in that barely clear zone where we haven’t received anything this season; very thankful as my roof just made 2 years after being replaced from the storms of 2016!
