Email Scams Hit Texas Agents Group, Insurance Department

Both the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) report being the subject of phishing scams.

TDI said it has received reports of fake emails that appear to be from the agency but the emails are being sent on AOL accounts, which TDI does not use.

IIAT reminded members that its emails will only come from the domains @iiat.ccsend.com or @iiat.org.

TDI and IIAT are warning constituents to make sure to check the addresses of all emails before opening attachments or clicking links. If unsure about the origin of any email, it’s advised to contact the organizations directly.
