CFO Slates Meetings March 19 in Orlando; April 2 in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Florida homeowners will still have two opportunities to discuss hurricane-related insurance problems with CFO Tom Gallagher, his staff and insurance company representatives March 19 in Orlando and April 2 in Fort Pierce.

Gallagher’s March 19 meeting will be the his final “town hall” meeting after three previous meetings in Sebastian, Pensacola, and Punta Gorda.

After being stood up for a March 11 “Consumer Awareness Happening,” Fort Pierce homeowners will be happy to hear that Gallagher has agreed to attend the April 2 event scheduled by the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Association of Occupational Licensing.

March 11, more than 100 Fort Pierce homeowners, carrying stacks of paperwork, came to the City Hall to discuss their hurricane-related insurance problems, but, due to a communications mix-up, the CFO didn’t show up.

Donna Pooler, an insurance analyst in the West Palm Beach office of the Florida Department of Financial Services was Gallagher’s only representative at the meeting.

“He was never invited (to the Fort Pierce event) by the city of Fort Pierce. There was a miscommunication somewhere,” Tami Torres, Gallagher’s spokeswoman said.

Gallagher and his staff will attend the Orlando town hall meeting March 19, 9 a.m. to noon at the Dr. Phillips High School, 6500 Turkey Lake Road. For more information, call the Department of Financial Services’ storm hotline at 1-800-22-STORM or log on to www.fldfs.com.
