The Greenbrier is built on top of a cold-war era fallout shelter designed to house the remaining members of government should Ivan have ever decided to push the button (well, actually, the hotel was there first… whatever).

They should start taking reservations for Dec 21, 2012. Get a couple of those suvivalist whackos with too much money, toss a few tons of MRE’s down there, then offer to let them start move-in on Dec 1, 2012. People will eat it up!!!

Remember Y2K? 12/21/2012 is going to be a HUGE money-making opportunity.

The Greenbrier is a charming, slow pace trip back to yesterday with a rich history….so sad to turn it into a typical luxury hotel with the big screen TV’s and a casino..How about a carriage ride or fly fishing instead!!

I go to a company function every year for the past 20 and find the service is at its very low. Food not as good, and the currents president has not done a good job.

Years ago when the original Greenbrier bill was passed to allow for casino, the local county commission took three or four years to put to a vote (hacking out their take with CSX) then when it did come to a vote the Greenbrier unions demonstrated their faith in management by voting it down, theroy was gambeling would detract from dinner trade when most made their money….so now they got it and don’t know what to do with it. The new version of on site management stinks….a replced “Old White” with a glass fish bowl! Anyone wonder why Ted headed for the hills of Hearshy?
