and if unmarried men learned to keep in their pants or use their birth control, that would take care of the other half!!!

Our youngest was about 18 months old in day care. I went to pick him up one afternoon and he had two bite marks on his arm. Naturally NOBODY SAW A THING.

First time, okay, maybe it got past them.
Second time, hello our son is screaming again, can you please find out what is wrong???

No one is going to love and care for your child as much as you. At least until your child is old enough to tell you what is going on in his or her world they should not be in day care.

Okay – yeah, some day cares are no better than kennels, but some are great. Reagrdless, the child is still living & the courts are awarding $7,000,000!!!!! That is just insane! No death, loss of limb, etc. and you can get that much. Where is the parents responsibility to catch this and not let it go on for an “extended period of time”. Do you not chang, bath, etc. your own children. OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

I completely disagree…..There are definitely some day cares out there that are very good! It’s up to the parents to really do their homework in searching for a day care that you feel comfortable with, but they do exist. If you feel like something is wrong, there probably is, and you should act immediately!

The good thing is now the parents don’t have to send their kid to daycare. They can hire a Nanny or two with the 7 mil. This is absolutely unbelievable.

    Wow, $7M, that is outrageous!!!!!

And re day care being the last choice – parents have to do their homework because there are some really wonderful facilities. However, especially in our current economy, not all families have the financial means to send their children to the better daycares and may be stuck with whatever they can afford.

    1) $7 million is ridiculous…

    2) There are a few single mothers out there who really have no other choice than daycare. That unfortunate situation aside, ask this question: is the bigger house, the new TV, the nice vacation, or your career really worth your young child being neglected or worse- abused? The answer to that question led my wife to choose to stay home- if my income goes down, we’ll survive and adapt- our kids are priceless.

Guess any parent who wants to avoid daycare should stay home and file for Welfare? It does pay better then working and paying daycare………..

Reality of this day is that both parents have to work in a majority of households. Not to have a McMansion. Can’t even afford to rent in most cities without two incomes.

Single mothers represent more then a ‘few’ of the population. And most of them are not getting the child support that has been ordered to them. If the father leaves the state, you’re SOL.

I don’t have answers, and I thank god I have my mother to watch my children while I’m at work. But I do know enough people who work and have to put their children in daycare to survive. NOT to have a BMW and 10,000 sq ft of living space.

maybe unmarried women should learn to keeps their legs shut or practice birth control. That would solve half the day care issue.

You forgot the men who start families with their wives, grow tired of them, then ditch them to start new families with a younger women. LOTS of them.

Can’t pay child support for first 3 kids because they have 3 more with wife #2. Maybe even 2 more with wife #3.

A lot of single parents raising children start out a married parents who come to their senses and divorce there A** H*** spouses. Usually due to the other being so self absorded and are constanting putting others down (refer to your posted comments). This applies to men and women alike

I agree there are just as many man whores out there as there are women. Any guy who knocks up a girl and doesn’t live up to his responsibility to support that child is lower than cow dung in my book. Any guy who does not pay child support should be sterilized as far as I am concerned so they can’t reproduce anymore. But ultimately, it is the woman who gets pregnant, so she has to bear the extra burden of preventing accidental pregnancies.

It does take two to tango and both bear responsibility. Having said that, when it comes down to the decision as to whether or not to keep the child or get rid of the child if both parties are not involved in the decision the one that makes the decision should bear responsibility. Just MHO.
