The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers (the Big “I”) has awarded Mississippi insurance agent Ronnie Tubertini with the Woodworth Memorial Award, the highest honor the association bestows on one of its members.

Tubertini, who is CEO of SouthGroup Insurance Services in Jackson, Miss., was honored at this week’s Big “I” Legislative Conference & Convention in Washington, D.C.

The award recognizes the meritorious and outstanding contributions of an independent agent or broker to the national association, to his colleagues and to the insurance industry.

David Daniel, Big “I” chairman who presented the award said that Tubertini has served in “almost every possible leadership position with the Independent Insurance Agents of Mississippi, and he has continued that tradition of service at the national association.”

In addition to serving two terms on the Big “I” National Board of Directors, he was chairman of the Government Affairs Committee and is currently serving his fourth year as chairman of the Professional Liability Committee. He has also served on the Agents & Brokers Roundtable, the Agents Advocacy Fund Committee and the Governance and Communications Task Forces.

Tubertini has played an active role in the insurance industry, both at the state and national level. He has testified numerous times on behalf of independent agents before Congress and his state legislature. An advocate for recruiting new talent into the industry, Tubertini has served as chairman of the Ole Miss Insurance Advisory Board. He has also been a voice for agents in industry boardrooms, including on the board of the Brierfield Insurance Co., the Mississippi Insurance Managers and the Associated Insurors of Mississippi.

In Mississippi, Tubertini has served as chairman of the Business and Industry Political Education Committee and on the boards of the Mississippi Economic Council, Delta State University Foundation and the Mississippi affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. In his local community, he has been president of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Community Development Foundation and the Rotary Club and served on the boards of many other organizations.

Independent Insurance Agents of Mississippi President Clinton Graham said Tubertini “is truly one of the most distinguished and respected leaders in the history” of the state trade group, which has also honored him with its highest award.
