If they were black and in poor neighborhoods they would be compensated. Its cheaper to give the home back to the bank and let them deal.

And this is why as consumers we need to support our own economy and insist on US made products, especially for home construction. There are no controls in China for any sort of safety, I have seen it firsthand and their idea of safety is about 40 years behind our standards.

I guess this is a lesson for all know where your building materials are coming from. I don’t think that it a FEMA problem. When does FEMA help consumers when they make poor decisions. Perhaps that house you bought was cheaper because they used the cheaper Chinese drywall. Buyer beware, you get what you paid for.

“FEMA just doesn’t get it. This is not purely a consumer product safety issue. This is a man-made disaster that has wrecked homes and communities. There is simply no prohibition under the FEMA empowering law against helping homeowners and communities during a man-made disaster.”

Since when??? I think the attorney doesn’t get it!!!

What this incident really shows is how our legal system, cannot do anything without a deep pocket somewhere to pick.

The mfgs of this drywall are now probably either untraceable, or protected by the CCP.

The distributors are either out of business or have now money.

The builders, they are gone or out of money or both.

Much of this is by plan. Why keep a business around for lawyers to pick over?

You cannot sue what is not there….

It’s time people started taking responsibility for their own decisions and poor judgements. As a taxpayer, I’m sick and tired of my money going to bailout every idiot who runs into trouble because of their own actions. Sue the contractor.

You should know that these were not all small cheap house… I have a client whose home was over $1 million, in a gated upscale community that is dealing or trying to deal with Chinese drywall… and how is the consumer supposed to know what brand or type or drywall is being used? Using a florida contractor that is following the building codes here the consumer expects the home to be built correctly using the proper bldg materials.

Your correct that an individual home buyer should know where the building materials are coming from, but the general contractor probably should and the distributor knows.

The fact that the homes are $1,000,000 does not make the claim more important than it owuld be for a homeowner that has purhcased an entry-level home.

And boy, doesn’t it make me feel warm and fuzzy that I having a million dollar hosue built by my bulider is looking to just meet the building code.

Like I said earlier. Lesson learned. Know you your doing business with.

I’m calling that Attorney Mike Ryan. My car ran out of gas so I asked FEMA to either give me a car with gas or just give me gas and they said “NO”. Can you believe that? They said it was a man made disaster and not natural. I’m suing FEMA as they should provide me gas because I didn’t know it was from Saudia Arabia. blah blah blah I agree with the one post, sue your contractor if you’re going to sue someone other than the Chinese government. If I ever have another home built, I’ve learned a lesson from these people. I’ll ask what they put into my house that is not manufactured in this country. If it’s lighting fixtures, I might be okay with that, but any major part of the house that’s not made here, I don’t want. And of course, I’ll write that right onto the contract that I sign with the Home Builder.
