Glad they passed it. It’s about time. But, like the article said, this bill won’t bring private capital back to the market. So, we still have a ways to go to fix the property insurance system in Florida.
The legislature blew it on the Citizens bill. Citizens will continue to grow with inadequate rates. Not good for Florida.
Hey…McCarty sure is singing a different tune these days, isn’t he?
This bill does not seem fair. My house sinks and cracks along with the driveway and pool and they only fix the house. so the home owners has a fixed house and the pool sidewalk and driveway or
un-fixed. Now the vaule of the home is worth a lot less. the home owner and banks who have loans will be the ones who hurt. our banks are already in trouble. so every home owner will be calling the bank ans ask for a loan Mod. what are we thinking. 3 counties in fl have thin layers of lime rock so every time my soil moves we have to refix the house.
So just pay extra to insure your driveway and pool if your so scared. The point of the bill is that i shouldnt have my premiums go up because your general policy covers your entire property and anything on it. They will cover anything on insurance for a price!!!!!!!!!
The sinkhole changes are excellent for the industry, but will only work if they apply to claims reported the date the bill goes into effect, regardless of policy renewal date or date of loss. Otherwise, it’s a moot point.

If the homes have thin layers of lime rock maybe they shouldn’t rebuild the pool afer the first sinkhole.
