Gov’t won’t make difficult but necessary decisions It’s always easier to show empathy and be the nice guy when you’re spending someone else’s money.
I’m disapponted that Apple & Ford charged me the full price for my I-phone and F150. They should have given them to me for half price and charged the remainder “over several years instead of all at once”. It’s only fair.
This is so ridiculous. If you live in Hillsborough, Pasco, or Hernando County and you want sinkhole coverage than you should pay for it. Why? Because that’s where the sinkholes are. So instead of $1k a year, it’s now $5k – what isn’t fair about that??? It’s like living on a fault line and wanting low cost earthquake insurance.
Well folks lets all hear it for the State, first citizens policy holders can vote on the rate increase now and later all the carriers will have the commissioner hold a vote by their policy holders on future rate increases. Looks like a precedence is being set!
Don’t like the sinkhole rate increases? The solution is simple, STOP PUMPING THE GROUNDWATER! Falling water levels, because they are pumping the aquifers dry faster than they can be replenished, is what causes sinkholes.
You want to keep pumping? Then you must pay the secondary costs as well.
While I guess it’s nice that they’re coming to Tampa, what exactly do they expect to hear? “Please increase our sinkhole premiums 2000%!!”
Somehow, I have a feeling that most people will say they can’t afford increases.
And, although my beloved University of South Florida is in Tampa, Tampa actually isn’t in South Florida.
