I thought Church Mutual pulled out of the state a few years ago? My church and others have not been able to get a quote from Church Mutual and as for Guide One, haven’t been able to get a property quote from them either… only a GL. The church my husband pastors is located in Palm Beach County, so are they writing churches in the northern part of Florida or something, because they aren’t writing them down here.
I agree lori. I have found churches that are insured with either of those carriers still, can easily be beaten by other florida carriers. There are some left still.
I agree Kevin. There are many viable carrier options left for Florida Churches other than Church Mutual and Guide One.
Our Agency, LRA Insurance, has access to many of those carriers and we would be happy to help anyone seeking insurance guidance.

This is interesting. We took a deeper dive into this and see that from a comp side, State Farm currently writes just over 219 active policies within Florida. Of more particular interest, 16 of them renew next month. Church’s certainly pick up more lines than comp but its an interesting start.
Also of interest is that the other carrier groups that appear to actively write the religious institution and church market are Guidone, Church Mutual, Travelers, Fairfax, Hartford and others.
More on this and a few actual policies at the link below.
I am a church insurance specialist in Florida with over 33 years of church insurance experience. The church insurance market is tight now, with few companies willing to write property with wind in coastal counties. Citizens may be the only wind market available in certain areas. Inland counties are better off, with several of our companies open to write. Newer churches and those with updated roofs, plumbing and electrical (if building is over 30 years old)are more attractive to companies. GuideOne is open for new business with property, but excluding wind in most of Florida. Please feel free to contact me for more information on church insurance in Florida. 800-777-2962.
