Hmmm….no hurricanes last year, no flooding last year, no tornadoes in Florida last year…..looks like a good time for the “Good Hands People” to make a splash again. Of course, when the next weather related catastrophe occurs, look for those new “agencies” (read captive slaves) to no longer be no longer have the “Good Hands People” logo on their door, and their $75,000 no longer in their bank.
Hey, I know! I am going to hire 50 new agents, verify their funds in the bank to pay their rent, staff, phones, advertising, and any other miscellaneous expenses I can think of and then only sell what I say they can sell, and if they don’t sell enough life and variable annuities, then sayonara.
Exactly the reason you’d be insane to go captive. Brand names don’t hold the value they once did. Don’t worry Mr. Customer, this Castle Key policy is backed by Allstate.
OK, they turn all of their employees into sueto-independent contractors and have been in litigation with them for quite some time, oh! but you have to be open on Saturdays and offer Allstate first and blah blah blah…. Then, They go out and buy a cartoon online insurance company, Essurance to compete against you. and you want us to work for you?
But what about the brand name, the extensive product lineup, and the competitive rates? You can be your own boss, pass on a legacy, and be a part of a family of 14,000 agents.
Actually, Allstate is putting a lot of skin in the game. They are offering huge start-up bonuses, matched marketing dollars, and a book buy-back option. I like that this company is aligning interest wtih business owners. Worth looking at if you have not already.

Thanks but I will stay independent!

You have to be kidding, right?

Think I’ve been given the pitch before?

So, Tom. How’s the career going at Allstate?
Start-up bonus? Are you crazy? Who doesn’t have a desk, a computer, and a phone? That’s all you need to get an agency off the ground.
On again, off again, on again, off again, on again…….. When you really think about things, Allstate and the Flordia DOI really deserve each other!!!!
