Authorities: Thieves Targeting Personal Vehicles of Atlanta Firefighters

Atlanta firefighters have been warned to keep their vehicles free of valuables after authorities say thieves are targeting the vehicles while the firefighters are working.

Multiple media outlets report that four pickup trucks at Fire Station No. 11 in the Atlantic Station area were broken into Tuesday morning.

Authorities say the firefighters believe items, including a laptop and a pistol, were stolen while the crew responded to a false call about a downed tree.

Atlanta Fire Department spokeswoman Janet Ward says this was the second time vehicles at the fire station have been broken into this year. Vehicles at two other fire stations have also been broken into this year.

Ward says the department plans to install security cameras at all its stations by the end of the year.
