Agent – do you believe the government should enact laws mandating the use of a seat belt? If so, should the penalty just be a fine? If so, should that violation be grounds to increase someone’s insurance rates?

I don’t believe agent is so much interested in collegial dialogue as he is in fomenting ill will.

Each state government should pass its own laws regarding seat belt and child seat usage, and I prefer to see these considered primary violations, meaning a peace officer can initiate a traffic stop for them. Many insurance companies will charge violation points for seat belt and child seat violations unless prevented from doing so by statute. I like that approach.

Cellphone/texting violations are proving to be very predictive in terms of loss and carriers should treat them as a serious minor violation like careless or distracted driving.
