    This is news because, I suspect, few people would believe this kind of integrity and personal responsibility would be demonstrated by anyone in law enforcement faced with similar circumstances. I hope I’m wrong about that. Either way, kudos to Sheriff Chitwood for this demonstration of leadership. It’s certainly the type of example I aspire to set.

      Hmm, 78 in a 55MPH zone. The Sheriff needs to keep it slowed down or he will run over someone. Hope he doesn’t text and drive.

    I’m up for a happy ending as much as the next person but let’s slow up on the praise and congratulations here a little. The Sheriff was driving recklessly if he was recorded at 78mph in a 55 limit. That’s bad enough for the common man but he’s trained and employed to maintain law and order and set an example. Furthermore, the Deputy demonstrates favoritism, unethical and inconsistent application of his training and employment too. And these are the professionals !

    Yes, the outcome was better than nothing happening but the consideration should never have been a consideration in the first place.
