    A Chief Information Security Officer recommending ransoms be paid? I’d be taking a hard look at the IT department whose role it is to protect against these types of attacks and make sure that adequate backups are in place so that no data is truly “at risk” (even if it make take days to restore). Municipalities are a very common target for ransomware extortions, unfortunately.
