I wonder how much she was worth alive?

Hard to imagine someone’s ashes being worth $12M. They didn’t kill the woman, they just cremated her. I can see refunding the amount it cost to cremate and maybe something to make this person feel better, but $12M seems absurd.

It’s not hard to imagine. This was a punitive judgement. The amount reflects the act and punishment that serves as a example to others. Moreover, I suppose it’s how a person values their life that determines how much they’re able to place value on another. Personally, someone’s remains are and should be priceless. Is there a price you would sell your loved ones remains for? I would hope not, if so I feel sorry for your exposure in life.

How much are you worth? How much should a life be worth? Do you measure the person by there tolerance, loyalty, trustworthiness, kindness, contributions, intelligence, or bank account? I think the more important question should be what else is going on in that funeral home.

why did it take 4 YEARS for the daughter to ask about her mother’s cremains? How long was the funeral home supposed to hold on to the ashes? Something’s not right here. The daughter couldn’t have cared that much about them if she waited that long.

Also, (and I’m not advocating this because it’s wrong), couldn’t the funeral home have just handed her ANY ashes? Unless you do a DNA test, you honestly don’t know if the ashes of your loved one are actually their ashes.
