The bill will increase the premiums for an HO3 policy in Florida by about 30%.

A 30% increase with added availability would be a win for this market. A 30% increase with carriers still tighter than a drum is another story all together.

One more time…………… Too little, too late. The proverbial beast cannot be appeased or reformed. It must be slain. The policyholders of Florida have only just begun to take their medicine.

If the insurance commission is incompetent then what do we call the code & permit dept. Magically roofs are still never up to code & permits magically get signed but not inspected. Roofing asphalt industry is the biggest scam from manufacturer to the roofing minions. Just making up 50 year warranties on regular laminate shingles then turning around and saying we cant repair anything. Asphalt shingles should be ban in FL all together. Really surprised the go green democrats have not come after these since it comes from oil.

The “Go Green” people were overrulled by our lawyer loving legislature. This bill will provide coverage for some currently unisuranble properties, but the premium will not be any lower.

I just had a new roof put on my home (we paid for it out of pocket no claim) – I ended up getting on the roof to find out the roofing company didnt do it correctly and they actually had to come back out pull the roof off and redo it, the city building department signed off on the roof the first time. Think about that the roof was done so bad they had to pull it off and redo it but the city signed off on the bad roof and said it was good and completed. the issue is not just the roofing companies, but the building departments for these towns and cities that are allowing shoddy work and approving shoddy work.
