IBA West Establishes Scholarship Fund for Insurance Education

The Board of Trustees of the Insurance Brokers and Agents of the West created a scholarship fund to award qualified candidates pursuing a career in insurance at an institution of higher education.

The Jesse L. Gary Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Jesse L. Gary, a respected leader in the insurance industry, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.

Eligible applicants must be a progeny or other member of the immediate family of an owner, officer or employee, of any IBA West member firm, regular or associate, in good standing at the time of the award. Candidates must fill out an application and write an essay explaining why he or she would be a worthy recipient of the scholarship.

“Jesse mentored countless young people entering the industry and was the driving force behind the creation of the highly successful Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Western Association of Insurance Brokers, now IBA West,” said Carole Stewart, executive director of IBA West, Pacific Northwest Chapter. “It is fitting that his contributions and dedication to the industry will be perpetuated through this scholarship for young people.”

The frequency and amount of each scholarship will be determined annually by the Board of Trustees of the Jesse L. Gary Scholarship Fund. Recipients will be announced at the Annual Meeting of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of IBA West. In order to maintain and grow the fund, tax-deductible contributions may be made at any time throughout the year during the life of the fund.

Contributions may be made to the following: Jesse L. Gary Scholarship Fund, c/o IBA West-PNW, 16212 Bothell-Everett Hwy, #125, Mill Creek, WA 98012. For further information about the Fund, contact Carole Stewart at (206) 467-7354, or csibawst@gte.net.
