Earthquake Seminars To Hit the West Coast This Month

This month, Applied Insurance Research Inc., a Boston-based catastrophe modeling firm, will be offering free seminars in Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco to demonstrate a new site-specific risk assessment capability for corporations exposed to large losses from earthquakes.

The seminars, scheduled for Feb. 12 in Seattle and Feb. 13 in Los Angeles, and Feb. 15 in San Francisco, will showcase how AIR’s Advanced Component Methodâ„¢, introduced to the property insurance industry in early 2000, can be applied to corporate and industrial facility risk analysis to provide corporate risk managers with the information they need.

AIR engineers will compare and contrast ACM with more conventional methods for performing a corporate quake risk analysis. Using test cases for commercial and industrial structures, presenters will explain how a site-specific risk assessment using ACM can result in improved information with which to support corporate risk management decisions.

While the seminars will be geared primarily to the corporate risk manager, AIR stressed that its insurance company clients with commercial and industrial portfolios who attend will walk away with valuable information. Space is limited. To reserve a seat, contact AIR at (425) 467-0477, e-mail wlavinschilling@air-worldwide.com or register online at www.air-worldwide.com. Founded in 1987, AIR Inc. now has offices located in Boston, London, Seattle and Hyderabad, India.
