RMS Releases New Company Website for Natural Hazard Risk Management

Risk Management Solutions (RMS), the industry leader in natural hazard risk modeling, announced the release of its newly upgraded company website at www.rms.com. The new site serves as an entry point to the company’s products and services for catastrophe risk, weather risk, and enterprise risk management.

It also features a password-protected Client Resources area for licensees of RMS catastrophe products, offering online access to technical documentation and catastrophe updates.

All visitors to the site can obtain information about risk management topics, such as:

— RMS publications and white papers on natural hazard topics

— Catastrophe event reports on major insurance losses, such as the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center disaster

— Overviews of catastrophe risk and RMS peril models for over 40 territories worldwide

— A glossary of natural hazard and insurance terminology, for use by risk management professionals and the media

For licensees of RMS catastrophe modeling products, the website’s Client Resources area offers a new Documentation Library of over 100 technical documents and slide shows, with a user-friendly interface for searching and browsing.

Clients can use the documents and presentations in the library for both research and new employee training. Clients can also access RMS™ CAT Updates in the Client Resources area of the new site, to obtain the latest information on catastrophe event occurrences around the world. CAT Updates include details on event characteristics, RMS’ perspective on exposures and losses, and specific parameters for simulating a scenario event using the RiskLink catastrophe modeling software. RMS has provided catastrophe response information for major events since the early 1990s, and today monitors global windstorm, earthquake, and other hazard activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for postings in CAT Updates.

“This new website is a critical step in expanding our client service infrastructure and information resources,” commented Lawrence Raia, executive vice president of client development at RMS. “The CAT Updates service and Documentation Library were identified by our clients as high priority items for web delivery, enabling quick self-service access. This complements and reinforces the investments we continue to make in direct client support and training.”
