Independent Broker Network Joins the National Auto Agents Alliance

October 19, 2001

The National Auto Agents Alliance has accepted an application for affiliation from the Independent Broker Network (IBN).

IBN is a 12-year old organization headquartered in San Jose, Calif. IBN founder Fred “Sonny” DiMeo stated, “Most other personal lines associations have long ignored Northern California agents. We recognize that there are many fine agencies in Northern California that are looking for the opportunity to interact with and support fellow agents whose issues while similar to the state as a whole are just different enough to justify a Northern California focus. The void has now been filled.”

DiMeo went on to say, “I have been impressed by the willingness of the NAAA to take on issues impacting the specialty auto agents like agency contracts, commission cutting and credit scoring.”

IBN brings more than 380 California members to the NAAA, increasing its membership in California to over 700.

“The Independent Broker Network is a quality organization that shares the same ideals as the NAAA and its affiliated state associations,” NAAA President, James Holthaus stated. “With the recent affiliation of the Latin American Agents Association (LAAA) and now IBN, the National is once again a strong advocate for agent members in all of California.”

The inclusion of IBN completes a triple play. The combination of NAAA, IBN and LAAA has led to the N.A.I.L. Insurance Coalition. IBN and LAAA will offer speakers, company update information and other resources to give the NAAA a strong presence in California. N.A.I.L. will continue to expand into additional locations around the state as leaders from different geographic locations are identified to direct those meetings.

The National Auto Agents, formed in 1995, is a trade group representing independent auto insurance agents in 18 states.
