Five P&C Insurers License CSC Systems

June 26, 2002

California-based Computer Sciences Corporation has put together five new licensing agreements with property and casualty insurers seeking to increase efficiency through packaged application software.

The insurers include Kemper Insurance Companies, Georgia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, Southern States Insurance Exchange and The Insurance Professionals. This group, plus a fifth firm ranked among the top 10 insurers in the U.S., licensed CSC’s software products for billing, rating and other core insurance applications.

New York-based Kemper Casualty Company, Kemper’s largest risk and select specialty operation, licensed CSC’s S3+ Rating Processor tool. Another large insurer also licensed S3+ Rating Processor for its commercial automobile line of business with the option to use the product with all commercial lines. S3+ Rating Processor enables business analysts to build their own algorithms and programs using the product’s automated features, reducing development time and increasing speed to market. Georgia Farm Bureau has licensed the billing and collections and client components of S3+, a comprehensive, all-lines administration system.

Two other property and casualty companies licensed CSC’s POINT software, a browser-enabled, fully integrated processing system for small to mid-range insurance carriers. The 10-year agreements with Southern States Insurance Exchange, of Richmond, Va., and The Insurance Professionals, of Scottsdale, Ariz., include components of the POINT E-Business Suite. CSC designed POINT to create a variety of Web-based transactions, improve management information and document management, and provide Web-based access to multimedia files such as images, recordings and video.
