Pair of Calif. Residents Arrested for Fraud, Two Fugitives remain at Large

Investigators with the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch’s Fraud Division announced the arrest of two Sutter County area residents on one felony count of insurance fraud each and violations of the Revenue and Taxation Code. There are two other subjects associated with this case still at large.

Arshed Ali Gorsi, 42, and Mohammad Ashraf Gorsi, 38, were arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail. Bail was set at $500,000 each. Mohammad Aslam Gorsi, 34, and Mohammad Ramzan Gorsi, 29, are still being sought by investigators. If convicted, each could face up to five years in state prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000.

According to investigators, Gorsi Farm Labor allegedly under-reported payroll to their workers’ compensation insurance carriers from 1996 to 1999, which reduced their total premiums owed.

Based on the under-reported payroll, Gorsi Farm Labor owes approximately $95,503 to Superior National Insurance Company and $86,961 to Clarendon National Insurance Company in premium payments.
