The Hartford Signs Deal with Ryan Companies to Anchor New Santee Office Park

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has signed a lease with Ryan Companies to occupy the anchor building in the city of Santee’s newest corporate park in Santee Town Center, located outside of San Diego.

The proposed 77,000-square-foot building, the first in the planned multi- building, 104-acre site, is being constructed to The Hartford’s specifications by the corporate park’s developer, Phoenix-based Ryan Companies. The building is expected to be ready for occupancy in April 2003.

The Hartford, which currently has offices in San Diego, is expanding its presence in southern California to better serve its growing business across the country providing auto and homeowners insurance to members of AARP and other affinity groups. Over the next three years, the company expects to add more than 100 jobs to its current workforce of 485. The Hartford has maintained customer service and sales operations in the San Diego area since 1986.

In announcing the Santee Town Center office, The Hartford’s senior vice president, Property and Casualty Operations, Sharon Ritchey said, “This move to Santee will help us better serve The Hartford’s expanding AARP customer base not only in the west but throughout the United States. A larger presence in the region will enable us to improve our customer service capabilities, and to reach out to new customers.”

Ritchey noted that The Hartford has been AARP’s personal lines insurance provider since 1984 and writes more than two million auto and homeowners polices to its members nationwide.
