San Diego-based HNC Software Inc., a provider of high-end analytics and decision management software, announced that the first deployment of HNC Decision Manager for Underwriting has been completed for Unitrin Multi Lines Insurance, the multi line property and casualty insurance business segment of Unitrin Inc. HNC’s new Decision Manager for Underwriting technology will analyze claims and assess underwriting risk for the approximately 300,000 personal lines policyholders of Unitrin Multi Lines.
HNC Decision Manager for Underwriting offers insurance and financial institutions a highly automated system capable of processing a variety of decisions for both renewals and new business applications. By combining user-defined business rules and traditional score cards—and utilizing decision management software with tightly integrated workflow capability—Decision Manager allows users to make informed, timely decisions about each application or policy it reviews and processes.
HNC Decision Manager for Underwriting is expected to produce significant cost- savings as well as opportunities for companies to increase their revenue by verifying allowable accident surcharges and correctly applying driver ratings. It also reduces risk by quickly identifying accounts that may have become too volatile to renew at current rate levels.
