August 29, 2002

A.M. Best Co. has reaffirmed Salt Lake City, Utah-based Workers Compensation Fund (WCF)’s ‘A-minus’ (excellent) rating.

According to A.M. Best, WCF’s ‘A-minus rating’ reflects the mutual insurance company’s excellent financial strength, strong reserving practices and dominant market position. A.M. Best also reports that the rating acknowledges WCF’s unparalleled local presence and excellent reputation for a high level of service and profit sharing.

“Having received this rating five consecutive years, we feel this demonstrates WCF’s long-term ability to meet our obligations to our policyholders,” said Lane Summerhays, WCF president and CEO. “Some companies cannot use an insurer with less than an A-minus rating.”

Established in 1917, WCF promotes safe workplaces to more than 28,000 Utah companies. A mutual insurance company owned by its policyholders and governed by a board of directors, WCF provides insurance products, claims administration, safety services, medical case management and special investigation services.
