Dealey, Renton & Associates (DRA) announced the retirement of Nigel A. Renton from the Board of Directors. Renton came to the insurance brokerage in 1960, eventually becoming its sole owner. He led the highly successful firm until 1992. “I’ve enjoyed being actively involved with DRA over the past 43 years and feel very confident that the new Board of Directors and current leadership will continue DRA’s success in the years to come,” states Renton.
DRA also announced the addition of Diane Sanchez and Albert Voirin as new outside Board members. Sanchez, a consultant to DRA management on various issues since 1991, has over 20 years of experience in organizational development and human resources management. She currently works for the East Bay Community Foundation in the Community Investment Department. Voirin founded and led AVA Insurance Agency in Chicago until its sale to the Hobbs Group in 1998. He worked collaboratively with DRA through PLAN and other agency owner forums until his retirement.
In other news, two new members have recently joined DRA’s management team:
Jeffrey R. Schmidt joined DRA in February as manager of the Commercial Lines and Employee Benefits departments. Schmidt, formerly National Sales Director with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, brings with him a broad range of experience in sales and business development, underwriting, and leadership.
Robert B. Gates joined the firm in July as senior management associate in DRA’s Santa Ana office. Prior to coming to DRA, Gates held the position of Branch Distribution Manager with Kemper Insurance Company. In addition to his extensive experience in underwriting, marketing, leadership and management on the company side, Gates had his own independent insurance agency for eight years specializing in small commercial and personal insurance.
Dealey, Renton & Associates is an ESOP company, with offices in Oakland, Pasadena, and Santa Ana, California. In business since 1950, it specializes in comprehensive insurance programs and risk management for the design, construction, and business professions.
