Keenan Names Former Mayor to Advisory Board

Keenan, one of the largest privately held brokerage firms in California, announced the appointment of Art Agnos to its Advisory Board.

Agnos is the former Mayor of San Francisco, 1988-1992. He also served as California State Assemblyman for the 16th district, 1976-1988.

Agnos has experience in executive roles and decision-making at the federal, state and local government level as Mayor of San Francisco, as an elected member of the California State Legislature and as a senior Presidential appointee in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In the private sector, Agnos is currently serving as a board member for Countrywide Treasury Bank, a subsidiary of Countrywide Credit Industries headquartered in Calabasas, Calif.

He also currently serves on the board of directors for the Center for Governmental Studies in Los Angeles and the McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good at the University of San Francisco, and the National Advisory Council for University of California at Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies.

His experience and insight on government, public policy and the democratic process led to a request by the U.S. Secretary of State for Agnos to participate in seminars for mayors and local officials in Southeastern Turkey (1998); by the National Democracy Institute to provide similar seminars in Angola (1998) and Palestine (2002); by the first democratically elected Mayor of Seoul, Korea to provide the Keynote Address on the 500th anniversary of Seoul (1996); by the Asia Foundation to conduct seminars on capacity building for local elected officials in the Russian Far East (1995).
