Quite a few and report them all in the Insurance Journal. The most recent was a roofing contractor in Southern California, then the PEO in Orange County, well I could go on.

As an employer, I’d be interested in hearing about employee fraud and what if anything is or can be done about it. I hear a lot of lip service from DOI and various insurance companies but I don’t hear or read much about prosecution of employees. My biased opinion is there is more employee fraud than employer fraud but I expect more money can be extracted from an employer, thus bigger headlines, rather than employees so that might play a role in who a district attorney will go after.

So, in six years, they collected $5million. The fees they collect from employers to fund the investigations including DA’s, average $35million per year. $210million – $5million, leaves a net loss of $205million for the program in those six years. Wow! I am so not impressed.
