Gable to Direct Growth of Swett & Crawford in Central Valley

In response to the rapid expansion of the business community in California’s Central Valley and its increased need for specialty insurance coverages, Swett & Crawford has appointed Wendy Gable, a veteran insurance broker and attorney, to oversee and manage the growth of both its Fresno and Sacramento offices. Her career spans more than two decades as a broker, marketing representative and branch manager with various Swett & Crawford offices and affiliates in the Central Valley.

“Wendy’s experience in both wholesale and retail brokerages will be a major asset to Swett & Crawford as we pursue our growth goals in this burgeoning area of California,” said Don Shorey, executive vice president and Western Region manager. “She’s been an active participant in the business community, and has real savvy about how to satisfy the needs of our retail agency clients by bringing them together with the best market resources.”

Gable’s career began her career in 1982 at IWest Insurance Managers, later a part of Swett & Crawford, as an assistant broker. In 1985 she moved from the San Fernando Valley to IWest’s Fresno office as a broker. Four years later she was promoted to brokerage manager at the Fresno office and also earned her CPCU designation.

Gable joined the retail brokerage arena with Aon Risk Services in 1993 as a marketing coordinator. In 1997, she returned to the wholesale business, joining Sherwood Insurance Services (now Swett & Crawford) as its marketing coordinator. In 1999, she returned to brokering on behalf of Swett & Crawford, and was named manager of the Sacramento office.

Gable continues to broker casualty placements in general liability, products liability, environmental coverages, pollution, aviation, umbrellas, coverage for oil and gas contractors as well as workers’ compensation policies in addition to her management roles.
