not having a tv or internet access other than being able to read the news on this site, I depend on Insurance Journal for all my news needs. Unfortunately, this amounts to learning a lot about Hurricanes in Florida, crooked agents in Louisiana, how much the California Insurance Commisioner sucks, and how Eliot Spitzer may or may not have a venerial disease.

Another problem is Insurance Journal headlines. For example, a few months back I see “Insurance.com mascot does it doggystyle.” I think, hmm.. this article will probably be interesting, perverse, but not very informative. Unfortunately it was neither interesting, perverse nor informative. Another example would be this particular headline, “Los Angeles Area Quake Could Result in 7,600 dead.” I’m thinking, when did an earthquake happen? I didn’t hear anything about it from any coworkers. Nobody said anything at the Taco Bell at lunch. Now I don’t personally have any friends or relatives in the L.A. area (although I have a strange interest in Tom Selleck’s health), but if I did, I would be worried sick.

Thankfully Insurance Journal was only reporting projected figures. Phew, that was a close one. Back to reading about Spitzer’s new kittens!
