The day when we retailers don\’t need wholesalers is coming soon. We do all the work anyways and seem to know more than the wholesalers do. Even regarding their own markets. With more and more agents obtaining surplus lines licenses, why do we need wholesalers?

So, you retailers do all the work, huh? You do the rating, the quoting, the binding, the policy issuance and servicing the policy during its term? Do you also issue the filings and the certificates of insurance as required? How about the premium fiancing, payment plans, inspections, surveys and assisting with claims?

I agree with Curious. I would never assume I could have the time or staff to handle the wholesalers functions. I have enough trouble keeping up with my appointed carriers, let alone trying to become a wholesaler also. My wholesale markets are fantastic. Their expertise is unsurpassed. They all know the level of service I expect and if they don\’t deliver there is always another wholesaler with the same market. I could not survive without my wholesalers.

I would suggest Disgruntled gets a new Wholesaler because the one he/she is using is not performing the duties and expertise that most Wholesalers provide.
