August 1, 2006

Builders Insurance Co.’s Risk Services-Nevada, administrator for the workers’ compensation provider, has hired two safety professionals: Rob Watson and Curtis Williams. Both will assist in providing safety and loss control services to the more than 1,100 Nevada construction workers that look to the company for employee workers’ comp protection.

Watson is a cowboy who was raised on a 75,000 acre cattle ranch in northern Nevada. Schooled in working a ranch, he went to school in Fallon, Nev., and lives there now after traveling the country doing a variety of jobs using the hands-on experience gained on the range. During the mid-80’s, Watson worked for the second-largest sand and gravel producer in Arizona, overseeing 150 workers, including four asphalt plants and two crushing plants. After short a stint as a welder in a Reno shop, he worked as a risk manager for an employee-leasing firm before joining Risk Services-Nevada as a full-time Northern Nevada Safety & Loss Control Representative.

Williams began his safety career in the military, working in the fire protection field in the Air Force – a branch of the service that deals with petrochemical fuels and high explosives during day-to-day operations, as well as during the rigors of combat. Trained as an Emergency Medical Technician, after retiring from the Air Force, Williams worked for five years for defense contractor Halliburton, providing hands-on safety services in a variety of high-risk and high-threat environments.
