CPCU Society Hosting Workshops in Pasadena, Calif.

CPCU Society’s California El Camino, Los Angeles, and San Gabriel Valley chapters are sponsoring two half-day workshops, called “Tips, Tricks, and Traps of the CGL” and “Hidden Coverages.”

The workshops will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at the Brookside Country Club (Rose Bowl), 1133 North Rosemont Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91103.

Tips, Tricks and Traps of the CGL should help attendees understand how the CGL policy has evolved over the past 15 years. Attendees will learn tips to better understand the coverages; identify tricks for using endorsements to structure the policy coverages; recognize and avoid the traps of unexpected exclusions; recognize and understand changes in the new 2004 CGL policy; and recommend the coverages needed by your customers.

Hidden Coverages is designed to help attendees recognize hidden coverages found in various policies — intended and unintended — that have been found during litigation; identify surprises that help or hurt customers; recognize which personal and commercial policies are changing because of these discoveries; and save insureds by knowing these hidden coverages and gaps.

The speakers for both workshops will be R. Bryan Tilden, a national lecturer and expert witness in the field of insurance. Prior to starting his own firm, Tilden and Associates, he was the director of technical affairs and director of education for IIANC. Tilden has been active in insurance education as a grading panel member for the Insurance Institute of America and the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.

Each workshop has been filed for four continuing education credits in California. Each program may be rejected and no credit given. Call 800-932-2728, ext. 2767 for updated CE information.

Each workshop has been approved for four CPD units by the AICPCU.

Cost for CPCU Society members is $89 for one workshop; $169 for both workshops. Nonmember cost is $99 for one workshop; $189 for both workshops.
