Pinnacol CEO Named President of AASCIF

January 9, 2007

The American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF) has named Pinnacol Assurance CEO Ken Ross as its 2007-2008 president. AASCIF is an association of workers’ compensation insurance companies from 27 states, plus 10 Canadian workers’ compensation boards. In the United States, most of these companies – referred to as state funds – specialize in writing workers’ comp insurance in a single state. Ross was appointed president and CEO of Pinnacol, Colorado’s oldest and largest workers’ comp insurer, in September 2005. He’d previously served as an executive at the New York State Insurance Fund for 10 years, the last four as CEO.

State funds were originally established to provide an assured source of workers’ compensation to businesses that are, due to their size or accident history, unable to obtain coverage from private insurers.

Ross will encourage AASCIF members to pursue deeper involvement in other well-respected industry associations to expand AASCIF’s reach, as well as help members gain additional best practices and strategies for managing financial risk.

Ross has served in various AASCIF leadership positions over the past four years, most recently as first vice president.
