San Diego Natural History Museum Offers Fire Protection Workshops

January 10, 2007

The San Diego Natural History Museum is offering several one-day educational workshop on protecting homes and communities from wildfire to help empower insurance agents and others in the business sector.

“Protecting Homes and Communities from Wildfire: Education for the Business Sector” will address key issues facing professionals who work with homes, homeowners and prospective homeowners in wildfire prone areas. This cross-training platform, applicable to landscape, building, real estate, insurance and other professionals, is designed to provide the opportunity to work across industries to find solutions. Instructors will include local fire officials, ecologists, landscapers and architects.

Trainings will cover a range of wildfire information, from basic fire behavior and local fire ecology, to what makes a house or community safer in the event of a wildfire. The Museum is seeking approval from various agencies for continuing education credits.
