I lived in Oregon for 27 years, then left for better economic opportunity and less taxation. Oregon has some of the highest state income tax and property tax rates in the nation. No sales tax, but the rest are very heavy handed.

The notoriously liberal Oregon government spends that enourmous tax revenue on fluff programs first, leaving many basic but critical services underfunded or even unfunded. This issue is all about priorities, and my dear old home state government is too busy rearranging the deck chairs on their leaking ship to buy any life boats.

So who determines what is a low cost policy? Does that mean that drivers with good rates will not have to pay it? What criteria will be used for that? Seems to me it will be another tax for those determined to be of higher income by not having minimum limits. Another incentive to go uninsured or buy minimum limits.

Oregon has a State Tax, does the State Government not care if there are State Troopers? Every person living / working in the state has to file State Taxes & you can\’t make me believe that the State doesn\’t have any money – I lived there for several years & paid those taxes – in addition to my Federal Taxes too!

Oh I have a better idea… stop charging everyone in the state for 911 if they can\’t respond! It\’s kinda pointless to have an emergency line if there is no responders!
