One wonders how rigorous an evaluation of the facts was conducted by the WA Ins. Commissioner to assign the increase in losses to global warming.

It would be prudent to investigate how substantially the insured values have grown due to development activities over the last two decades.

It\’s entirely possible that the increase in losses is far better correlated with the dramatic increase in insured values rather than either frequency or severity of storms.

Blasphemy I paid this guy good money to line up on our side. I mean come on what do insurance commissioners even know about insurance let alone global warming. Fools buy carbon credits early and cheap—at payalgorenoworlater@justanothertaxonthemiddleclass.com

Kreidler must have forgotten about the Columbus Day storm here in 1963, and the inauguration day storm in 1993. Is that looking too far back when considering long term climate change and ripping off taxpayers by sending our tax dollars to sri lanka?

How about the Friday the 13th storm in 1983. Memories fade in the face of a politician looking for an issue.

Just so I\’m clear, are you folks seriously saying there is no global warming? That\’s not even under debate anymore. The question now is what is creating the warm up, nature or people. You would really need to be living in a state of denial to say it\’s not happening.

or not its part of a natural cycle or man made. Also whether its harmful or not.
Just because al gore cooked it up doesnt
mean its true to the extent he claims.
Weather cycles have been occurring longer
than we\’ve been around. Some of us suspect its als way of getting onstage with other democratic presidential hopefuls. By the way, its probably his only hope, since otherwise he is as unimportant as he\’s always been. I saw his docudrama. Very persuasive, and if you had no other information its entirely believable. Good news – we have plenty of time to see if he\’s right or wrong.
Another reason I can wait to reach a conclusion. I have observed Hollywood
jump all over the latest greatest cause
before. Just because an actor says its does not make it true.

Yes Reality Check yes —attack the non believer with rhetoric and ambiguous statments-ridicule him for his ignorance. We have paid for many statistic to prove man is the sole cause of global warming and how our planet is dangerously warm. You are a good and loyal comrade-or as lenin used to say \”useful idiot\”.

I\’m surprised the insurance commissioner didn\’t talk about cat losses in 2006 being only $9.2 billion. If weather events are getting worse due to global warming, shouldn\’t \’06 have been worse than \’05. Oh.. that\’s right, there was an El Nino, that brought in cooler water. Funny these guys couldn\’t predict that in early 2006, but can predict the temp 70 years from now… Yeah right!

Curious. If an insurance company tried to increase its rates because of “Global Warming” the Washington DOI would immediately reject the filing if it could not be justified with a detailed statistical analysis proving the correlation between projected loss costs and expected changes in the climate. Moreover, even when a statistical correlation can be proven, such as the correlation between credit scores and personal lines losses, the insurance commissioner has established laws limiting their use simply because it is not politically correct. Yet, our insurance commissioner can testify before congress that global warming is not only absolute fact but that it is largely caused by human activity (something that is NOT universally agreed upon in the scientific community) based on nothing more than flimsy, anecdotal evidence.

Reality check-pay no attention to these nay sayers Larry Gil and Dale are puppets of the capitalist devil bush. We have study this now for almost 10 years and we have paid good money to people so that they will confirm we know all we need to know about climate change. Buy my carbon credits now before I raise the price and drive these industrialist pig dogs back to the stone age where only I and those I choose will have the right to emit carbon in any form!

Kreidler’s words should not be surprising coming from a politician. As one who does not earn his pay from providing a service to people who voluntarily exchange their money for it but rather extracts his money through taxes extorted from those unfortunate enough to be in his “jurisdiction,” Kreidler either cannot understand, or refuses to understand what private businesses face. Yes, Mr. Kreidler, insurance companies will deal with increased losses and threats to their profits-whether those threats are due to “climate change,” or any of a number of other factors. They will do so by paying attention to risk selection, pricing, claims handling, underwriting and an incalculable number of concerns that no government bureaucrat will ever understand; after all, if an insurance company, or any other private business, miscalculates badly enough it goes out of business. What happens when a government entity (inevitably) fails? It screams for a larger budget and more power.

Anyone who has even the faintest memory of recent history will recall that the 1970’s saw the prediction of a grave threat to “the planet” and all of mankind. According to these doomsayers, man’s industrial activities-burning of petroleum based fuels, use of cars, et. al.-would inevitably lead to global…..cooling! Fortunately, that hysteria died out. But today, it has been resurrected as the global warming religion. As even a cursory glance of most mainstream media sources will show, anyone who parrots the prescribed orthodoxy is given the most solemn attention. Those who dare to even question 1) whether in fact the earth is warming and/or 2) whether mankind’s activities are having any effect on climate are instantly dismissed as “dupes of the oil industry” or “crackpots.” On that score, mankind’s activities contribute only 5% of “greenhouse gases” with the remainder coming from plant and animal activity-ever see that mentioned on TV?

It’s amazing that meteorologists with the most sophisticated equipment on earth have trouble predicting the weather two weeks ahead. Who then are these anointed experts that claim to be able to predict the weather 50 or 100 years into the future? If they really could do that, then perhaps they could hire themselves out to agricultural concerns who would be willing to pay them a fortune to pinpoint weather patterns years into the future.

So please Mr. Kreidler, go back to collecting your stamping fees and excess taxes and leave science to those with the integrity, humility and honesty necessary to pursue it in an unbiased manner.

You folks are forgetting the basic forumula Kreidler and others of his ilk live by: “government gooooood! private, for-profit businesses baaad! Except of course when the private businesses make money from which we extract our extortion fees-oops!-I mean taxes!”

Do your duty and do not question government! Government is made up of perfect men and women who have the answer to every human problem that has ever been, is now, and ever will be!
