Industry Foundation Forms Western Division, Honors XL’s O’Hara

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation announced the expansion of its California region to a Western United States Division. The announcement was made at the Foundation’s 15th Anniversary dinner held May 17, 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco.

During the evening, the Foundation honored Brian O’Hara, chairman of XL Capital, Ltd., for his many years of industry leadership and his dedication to education. David Zuercher, chairman and CEO of Wells Fargo Insurance Services served as the 2008 Dinner Chairman.

“We believe the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation is a unique national nonprofit organization, and we are proud to help establish the Foundation’s Western Division, engaging leadership from across the insurance industry in support of the community”, Zuercher said.

Tom Jones, chairman of the Foundation and a senior executive with Liberty Mutual Group, said, “This is a very special night as we celebrate our past 15 years, continue our tradition of awarding local community grants, honor a distinguished industry leader, and continue the national expansion of the Industry Foundation”.

“We look forward to working with new communities throughout the Western United States and hope other members of the insurance industry will follow the leadership of Wells Fargo and provide their unique contribution to our united industry effort”, said Bill Ross, CEO of the group.

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, founded in California in 1994, seeks to help communities and enrich lives by combining the strengths of the industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership. The Foundation’s New York Division began operation in 2007 serving the Tri-state area.
