Missoula Concerned About New Flood Plain Maps

    I know of few people in this area paying less than $900 a year for flood insurance in the 100 year flood plain. Most are in the $1,500 to $3,000 range. Attend the meeting, and check the maps and rates carefully. Some of you may also require an elevation certificate to be done before you can buy insurance. This can cost upwards of $3,000 in engineering fees.

    It is not inconceivable that some people will loose their homes over this. I am likely one of those people.

    It disgusts me at how lightly some city officials are communicating this information.
