Can you imagine the outrage if there was an Insurance Man’s Association of San Gabriel Valley? All the fembots would be thumping their siliconized chests and demanding equal opportunity to join and belong and call the group sexists. Amazing how the double standard in this society still exists. Women, you can’t have it both ways.
have been a member of NAIW and Insurance Women of N Virginia since 1995 and it has been the absolute best thing that I have ever done for my career. And guys–we are not just an organization for Women–there are plenty of men that see the value in NAIW. The leadership tools, the mentoring skills, the communication classes, well-it certainly trumps any training that you geezers would ever provide to a CSR. Get over yourselves.
I am also amazed at how many unprofessional “men” there are in the industry— instead of congratulating a person on their accomplishments, take more time to moan and groan about the fact that we are an organization made up of insurance women.
whoa lady he asked you to comment on the double standard…what’s your view on that? Don’t name-call and paint broad strokes instead of answering the question. But i guess if you thought/spoke/acted rationally instead of emotionally spewing your diarrhea all over the place, then uh ya I guess you’d be a man…
So Compman – your question’s invalid b/c Maureen’s too emotional to shine the light on her own hypocrisy and even consider the fact that the double standard is blaringly indefensible. And everybody knows you can’t argue w/ a feminist. It’s like trying to talk facts w/ Ahmadinejad.
yeah, but I bet Maureen can make a mean sandwhich!. I put my question on there to see if someone like Maureen would bite. She sure did. Hook, line, and sinker. It really shows you the attitude that exists out there. But I better get back to oogling my secretary with the big melons since I am such an old geezer and do not contribute anymore to the insurance marketplace.
The market began in Edward Lloyd’s coffeehouse around 1688 in Tower Street, London. His establishment was a popular resort for seafaring men and merchants engaged in foreign trade.
It is known that Lloyd’s Coffee House was a popular men-only establishment. As were many establishments of the time.
Women and minorities had to create various associations in order to set ground where only white men (or those able to past as) were allowed. They sold to women or others of their kind. Up until (and I bet it still exist) lately are we starting (in the US) to recognized or give lead way to humans other than white men.
Nice try Pamela, I am talking 2009, not 1688. What passed for ok then is no where near what is ok now. I would really like to hear what you would think if there was a Insurance Mens group of CA or any other state. You would be crying foul, crying discrimination, etc. You guys can’t have it both ways.
Compman,
Notice that I made mention that not much has changed, better, but no cigar. (Pardon the pun) (Oh, that’s right women do smoke cigars now, don’t they).
Personally, I would not cry foul. There should be a world where you are free to do you, as long as no physical malice is applied.
We’ve had men join our chapter. We currently have a guy as our chapter secretary. He was our Rookie of the Year, too! I hope that you will join NAIW as well and we will welcome you!

Maureen. You ignored the question and also the statement. Ignored the message and instead focused beratement onto the messenger. Nice try.

Well Pamela, you are the exception to the rule then and I commend you for that. Obviously, you and Maureen will never go out for coffee and cigars!
