The ruling described in this article was not made under OSHA as the title states; rather, the relevant federal act is the EEOICPA (Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act). OSHA is not involved in these types of cases.
How would someone go about filing a claim for compensation. My father worked underground at the test site for about 3 years from 1981 to 1985 he died when he was 50 years old of multiple cancers in his body. He passed in 1987. We have always known that his job had something to do with it. Could you please give me a contact number or something.
Melanie: You can find a claim form on the internet at http://www.dol.gov/owcp/energy/regs/compliance/claimsforms.htm. The website also has the phone numbers and addresses for the four district offices nationwide where you can submit the completed claim form. If you need further help, you can reach me at 202-693-5355 or email me at kelly.alan@dol.gov. I’m happy to help and very glad you asked. You may be entitled to a significant amount of benefits. If you know of others who you think are in a similar situation, please tell them about the program also. Thank you.
