How wonderful for those companies that are based in California – they not only get to do business in a state that is running full-out toward bankruptcy and beating every last dollar out of their populace, but now companies can’t invest in some other venue to make money – even if the Federal Government allows for such investment. I personally wouldn’t do anything whatsoever to help Iran, but I would fight for the right for any other US Citizen to make his or her own decision on the matter. On the flip side, if these divestments are making money, isn’t it taking from Iran?
“We need to do whatever it takes to put maximum pressure on Iran to change its behavior.”
Does the fact that this is coming from an INSURANCE COMMISSIONER bother anyone else?
Mr. Poizner is an insurance commissioner. Not a U.S. Senator sitting on the Foreign Affairs committee, not the President, and not the Secretary of State. Shouldn’t the focus be on California–which has ample problems of its own–rather than Iran?
Obviously he’s running for Govenor of CA and wants to use this as a feather in his Gubenatorial Campaign Cap.
it’s a pefectly good idea; we must put the scews to Iran in every way we can (with or without international support), but he has an his own motives for doing this

And we thought Garamendi was a pandering fool.
Now we have an insurance commissioner trying to push through his own foreign policy.
