If I lived in Miles City I’d fork out the 10 bucks and get a flood zone determination before AND after the revision. You never know if you’ll need it for ammo to dispute a change that affects you. And, I think there’s only one company that does them for homeowners (in the required FEMA format):

My sister had one done last year in Yakima, WA when maps were revised.

If you have a concern about flood insurance, talk to your insurance agent. These professionals can cousel you about the pros and cons of the insurance product as well as whether it fits your needs. They also won’t charge you for a flood zone to determine what your risk truly is.

    With all due respect Doug,

The whole purpose of a third party Flood Zone Determination is that it removes all elements of conflict of interest.

The lender has their interests. The insurer has their interests. The only interest for flood determination company is to provide an accurate assessment for the individual.

That’s why I mentioned my sister’s experience w/ http://www.myFloodZone.com – it worked for her. I think she spent a total of 5 minutes and 10 bucks. She didn’t have to travel around to appointments or visit the county offices or anything.

An independent insurance agent represents you, not the insurance company.

Your agent can do this for free.

No reason to plug your fraudulent website anymore.

Ya know it’s not very nice to make such accusations.

First of all it’s not my website.

Second, they helped my sister save about 1,800.00 a year (doesn’t sound so fraudulent)

And third, you wouldn’t happen to be an independent agent… would you?

I just dont like to see people spreading misinformation about agents.

Also, this is no place to plug and spam websites.

There is a lot of that going around here and that is very likely what just occurred.

This is no place to advertise a particular site.

fyi… you can view the flood maps online at FEMA’s website (www.fema.gov) at no cost. under Quite Links on the right side you will see a link to Flood Maps. Input your property address and the current flood map will appear. You will then need to locate your property on the map.
