Sparks Police Cite 68 for Lack of Proof of Insurance

March 24, 2010

Spark, Nev., police cited more than 600 drivers and made one arrest during a nearly month-long campaign to address growing complaints about speeding on the city’s streets.

Sgt. Pat Dyer says additional officers were added to the streets from Feb. 22 through March 14 thanks to a grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety.

Dywer says the 633 citations included 425 for speeding, 68 for lack of proof of insurance, 14 for failure to wear seatbelts, 50 driver’s license violations and two car-seat violations. There was one citation for reckless driving and one arrest for DUI.
